SUMMARY:New trends in the economics of central banking
DESCRIPTION:Workshop program\nThe scientific conference “New trends in the economics of central banking” is intended to provide a forum for exchange of the newest research results and methods by gathering leading European researchers in the domain. It will also be a platform disseminate the results of the project “Determinants of preferences, communication and reactivity of central banks” funded by the National Science Center realized by the team of economists from France, Ireland and Poland.\nThe scientific goal of the conference is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary analysis of the factors of the functioning of central banks, in particular preferences, communication and, consequently, the manner and intensity with which central banks respond to economic events, disturbances and challenges, such as financial crises, the current COVID-19 pandemic or long-term climate-change risks.\nThe key-note speeches will be delivered by Bernd Hayo of the Marburg Centre for Institutional Economics (MACIE) at the University of Marburg and Roman Horvath of the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague.\nThe conference will take place in-site of the Polish Academy of Sciences – Scientific Center in Paris on October 18th-19th, 2021.\n\nKeynote Speakers:\n   Roman Horvath is a Professor at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, Prague. He served as the Head of Research Unit and Advisor to the Board at the Czech National Bank and as the President of Czech Economic Society. He has published in the Journal of International Economics, IMF Economic Review, Journal of Money, Credit and Banking and World Bank Economic Review, among many other journals. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Czech Journal of Economics and Finance, Associate Editor of Open Economies Review and Associate Editor of Journal of Financial Stability. He served as the consultant to a number of different institutions, including the European Parliament (a member of Monetary Experts Panel of the European Parliament) and World Bank (short-term consultant).\nhttps://sites.google.com/view/horvath ( https://sites.google.com/view/horvath )\n \nBernard Hayo has been Professor of Macroeconomics and member of the Marburg Centre for Institutional Economics (MACIE) at the University of Marburg since 2004. He received an MSc from the University of Bristol in 1993 and a PhD from the University of Bamberg in 1997 and worked at the Universities of Bonn and Duisburg-Essen as a post-doctoral researcher. He was a visiting professor at the Universities of Bonn, Christchurch, Frankfurt, Georgetown, Göttingen, and Kobe as well as the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the College of Europe in Brugge. His research focus is quite broad, sometimes interdisciplinary and typically employs empirical methods. Particular emphasis is placed on research questions related to monetary and fiscal policy, political economy, and socio-economics. He publishes extensively in international journals and regularly presents his work at conferences and research seminars.\n
