The Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris invites you to a lecture hosted by Dariusz Dlugosz, Julien Cuny and Jaros\u0142aw Maniaczyk of the Louvre entitled \u2018Meetings with the world of science: the history and current status of oriental and biblical research at the Louvre\u2019.<\/p>\n
The event will be held in a hybrid format: in the conference room (1st floor) of the Scientific Station of PAN in Paris (74 rue Lauriston, 75116 Paris) and via the Microsoft Teams platform.<\/p>\n

Julien CUNY: \u2018The Palace of Darius in Susa: new data from the Louvre collection\u2019. Julien CUNY is a curator at the Louvre, where he is responsible for the collections of ancient Iran. He is director of the French archaeological mission in Bahrain at the Abu Saiba site. A lecturer at INALCO and the \u00c9cole du Louvre, he specialises in the archaeology of Susa from the Neo-Islamic period to the Sassanids, as well as the architecture of the Darius palace in Susa and the material culture and funerary practices of Bahrain. He is the author of numerous publications, including \u2018A Short Note from the Louvre-Dariosh Project\u2019 (2019) and \u2018Les fouilles de Suse d’apr\u00e8s les archives photographiques\u2019 (2022), and has curated the exhibition at the Mus\u00e9e du Louvre \u2018De Dilmun \u00e0 Tylos\u2019 (with Marianne Coty in 2022).<\/p>\n Jaros\u0142aw MANIACZYK is an Assyriologist and documentalist at the Department of Oriental Antiquities (ing\u00e9nieur d’\u00e9tudes in 2016). A former assistant professor at the University of Poznan, he obtained his PhD in 2000 at the \u00c9cole Pratique des Hautes Etudes and was subsequently an administrative staff member at the Department of Oriental Antiquities (2007-2015). He is co-curator of two exhibition projects: \u2018Mari en Syrie\u2019 (Mariemont, Strasbourg) and \u2019Le Voyage de Zimri-L\u00eem. Les routes amorites au IIe mill\u00e9naire’ (Louvre) and author of numerous publications on Assyriology, including \u201cLes origines de l’\u00e9criture\u201d (2012) and articles in the catalogue \u201cMari en Syrie\u201d (2023).<\/p>\n Dariusz D\u0141UGOSZ was a lecturer at the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern History at the University of Szczecin in Poland from 1985 to 1990, and then studied at the \u00c9cole du Louvre (1996-97) and the \u00c9cole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (1998-2002). He has worked at the Louvre since 1994.
