The Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris cordially invites you to an event devoted to Polish composers who contributed to the artistic life of Paris in the inter-war period.<\/p>\n
During the event, Jolanta Guzy-Pasiak, Ph.D., from the Art Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, will give a lecture on the reasons why Paris was a magnet for Polish artists in the inter-war period, why it was there – often at the instigation of Karol Szymanowski – that composers directed their steps, most often to further studies with Nadia Boulanger or Paul Dukas. The audience will be reminded of the important figures of Polish culture who gained their professional qualifications in Paris.<\/p>\n
In the second part of the meeting, lecturers of the University of Silesia, researchers of manuscripts of emigration artists of the 20th century – Dr Aleksandra Ha\u0142at and Dr Marcin Ha\u0142at – will perform a concert. They will commemorate Polish composers who contributed to the artistic life of Paris: Aleksander Tansman, Tadeusz Zygfryd Kassern, Karol Rathaus and others. The concert will include works by selected composers. The performers, as part of the “Bia\u0142e Palmy” grant from the National Institute of Music and Dance, have researched and recorded the unknown archival works of composer Jerzy Fitelberg. The event will give his works, for the first time since the inter-war period, a chance to resound in the city where his work developed.<\/p>\n
During the concert, digital animations depicting a shortcut through the life of Jerzy Fitelberg will be presented. During its broadcast, the artists will present a work created in Paris entitled Prelude and the Concertino da Camera, created in the United States.<\/p>\n
