The Polish Academy of Sciences has the honour to invita you to a piano recital ”The Other Wieniawski” consecrated to J\u00f3zef Wieniawski’s works. The event will take place on the 3rd of November 2026 in the Polish Academy of SciencesScientific Center in Paris (74, rue Lauriston Paris 75116).<\/p>\n
Zofia \u0141a\u0142ak\u2019s piano recital is part of a project dedicated to reviving the legacy of J\u00f3zef Wieniawski – an outstanding pianist, composer and educator – whose repertoire remained outside the mainstream of concert life for many years. The project combines artistic work with source research, the digitization of archival materials, and the promotion of the composer\u2019s piano and chamber music pieces. An important element of this research is the Fonds J\u00f3zef Wieniawski collection, preserved at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where Wieniawski lived and taught for many years.<\/p>\n
The recital program is enriched by a short multimedia presentation that explores the life of J\u00f3zef Wieniawski, his artistic career, and the European context of his work. The event aims not only to highlight the composer\u2019s exceptional music but also to showcase his place in the history of Polish and European culture.<\/p>\n
The project is led by Zofia \u0141a\u0142ak – a pianist, cultural manager, and graduate of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, who was associated with the institution for many years as a piano lecturer and associate director of the Keyboard Department. Her work focuses on promoting Poland\u2019s musical heritage and rediscovering the works of composers whose output deserves to be reintroduced into the concert repertoire.<\/p>\n
The project was realized with the support of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage Republic of Poland scholarship.<\/p>\n
