On Friday, September 27, 2024, an international conference titled “Beyond Tomorrow. Science, Sustainability, and Societal Shifts” took place at the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris. The event was co-organized the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris and Polonium Foundation.
The conference program covered the following topics:
- climate change,
- architecture and urban planning issues,
- sustainable development,
- new technological solutions.
The aim of the conference was to identify science and education as catalysts for development, as well as social change and migration. The event focused on issues related to energy transition, which was in line with the priorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris, including the EU Missions and the Horizon Europe clusters: (i) Health, (ii) Climate, Energy, and Mobility, (iii) Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environment.
The event was attended by academics as well as one of the most influential architects, Iwona Buczkowska, winner of the Jane Drew Prize 2024, recognized as a pioneer of timber construction and a fierce defender of the right to decent housing.
