On Wednesday evening, October 9, 2024, a lecture titled “The history and current status of oriental and biblical research at the Musée du Louvre” was held at the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris. The event featured three lectures showcasing studies conducted by researchers from the Department of Oriental Antiquities at the Louvre:

  • Julien Cuny, “The Palace of Darius in Susa: new data from the Louvre collection”,
  • Jarosław Maniaczyk, “Divination in ancient Mesopotamia”,
  • Dariusz Długosz, “140 years of oriental and biblical studies at the Musée du Louvre”.

The event from the Louvre’s side was coordinated by Dr Dariusz Dlugosz, whom we thank very much for his collaboration on this year’s events.

All those interested in the topics are welcome to visit the Louvre Museum, particularly the Department of Oriental Antiquities.

“Meetings with the world of science” is a series of lectures on popular science organised by the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris. It aims to disseminate the achievements of Polish scientists in France. The meetings are held in a hybrid form and are aimed at all those interested, regardless of their level of knowledge in particular topics.
