Conservation of Forest Genetic Resources – from Molecular Basis of Seed Longevity to Biodiversity Preservation

How can plant genetic diversity be effectively safeguarded in a world undergoing increasingly rapid environmental change? What role do seeds, their longevity and their ability to remain viable during storage play in this process?

These questions will be at the centre of the scientific event “Conservation of Forest Genetic Resources – from Molecular Basis of Seed Longevity to Biodiversity Preservation”, to be held on 27 October 2026 at the Scientific Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris.

The meeting will bring together different fields of research – from the molecular and physiological mechanisms of seed longevity and plant biology to the conservation of genetic resources and biodiversity. It will provide a forum for exchanging results, expertise and research concepts, while fostering further scientific cooperation between researchers from Poland and France.
