Doctor from Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain), since 2013 researcher at the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Poznan Institute of Technology, Wood Technology Centre, since September 2021 director of the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris.

Expert of the European Commission, NCBiR (National Centre for Research and Development) and NAWA (National Agency for Academic Exchange). Fellow of the Minister of Science and Higher Education in the Transformation.doc program at Wageningen University & Research center (Netherlands), COST Action STSM at Università degli Studi di Bari (Italy) and COST Action Training Schools at Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland) and University of Iceland, (Iceland).

In her academic career, she has participated in international projects (including Horizon 2020, ERA-NET), implemented two standards for accreditation, and co-organized conferences with Nobel Prize laureates.
Her research interests include biomass, ecosystem services, green infrastructure, urban forestry, solid biofuels and bioenergy. PhD from the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, research work and participation in European projects, show from the beginning her drive to conduct and develop research at an international scale.

Leading the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris, she pursues the vision of a modern center promoting interdisciplinary projects, especially in the area of the 5 missions of Horizon Europe, and developing international cooperation.

Zuzanna Łacny, PhD

PhD engineer, graduate of Environmental Engineering at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. Her research interests focus on revitalisation of degraded areas, social aspects of mining and protection of industrial heritage. She gained experience as an academic teacher and researcher. She has participated in several scientific and educational international European projects (Horizon 2020, EIT RawMaterials) in the field of raw materials management in a broad sense. She was the coordinator of the RESTART project within the Creative Europe programme (2022), supervising teams from Spain, Poland and Greece. She has benefited from several fellowship programmes, among others in Serbia and Australia (NAWA) and in the UNESCO-listed post-mining region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France (Campus France).

Human rights analyst, specializing in international security, domestic and foreign policy of France, NATO’s role in the security environment, and the conditions of the civil war in Yemen. Youth Delegate of the Republic of Poland to NATO.

She gained experience at the UN Global Compact Network Poland (2022-2024), the Institute of New Europe (2021-2022, Director of Analysis and Project Coordination), and the University of Warsaw (2017-2019, 2022).

A graduate of the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Political Science and International Studies, with a major in International Relations, specializing in Security and Strategic Studies. She participated in scholarship programs at Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris 1) and Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris).
