Maria Skłodowska-Curie · Albert Einstein. Lettres /1911–1932/
On Friday, 24 April 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Centre in Paris will host the presentation of the French edition of Maria Skłodowska‑Curie · Albert Einstein. Letters /1911–1932/, published by the Foundation for the Development of Education for Industry in cooperation with the Maria Skłodowska‑Curie Museum in Warsaw.
The publication, initiated by Dr Ewa Łabno‑Falęcka, presents for the first time a complete critical edition of the correspondence exchanged between the two eminent scholars between 1911 and 1932. Conducted in French by Skłodowska‑Curie and in German by Einstein, the correspondence encompasses scientific matters, their shared engagement in the work of the International Committee on Intellectual Cooperation of the League of Nations, and offers an extraordinary testimony to a personal and intellectual friendship that endured for two decades.
The Polish edition of the volume was released in January 2025. The French edition has been supported by the Capital City of Warsaw, POLONIKA National Institute of Polish Cultural Heritage Abroad, and French business circles in Poland. The book includes facsimiles of the original manuscripts, translations, archival photographs, and scholarly commentary prepared in cooperation with the Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Contributions to the volume were written by Prof. Hanoch Gutfreund (Hebrew University of Jerusalem), Prof. Jan Piskurewicz (Institute for the History of Science, Polish Academy of Sciences), and Prof. Tomasz Pospieszny (Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań).
