2022 is a very special year for Egyptology. It is the bicentenary of the decipherment of hieroglyphs by Jean-François Champollion and centenary of the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings. At the same time it is also the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In order to celebrate these important anniversaries, Polish and French Egyptologists with gather on a special conference on 7th–8th June 2022 in the Scientific Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris . The Polish-French collaboration in the domain of Egyptology dates back to the very beginning of the discipline as one of Champollion’s friends and correspondents was Stanisław Szczęsny Kossakowski, met by the French scholar during his stay in Rome in 1825. The aim of the conference is to present the results of the Polish-French collaboration in Egyptology as well as the results of the research conducted independently by both countries, in order to renew the mutual contacts between Polish and French scholars.
