Polish-French seminar on new molecular mechanisms of the female reproductive function

The aim of the event is to organize a scientific seminar summarizing the implementation of jointly conducted projects financed by the National Science Center in Poland, the Ministry of Education and Science in Poland and Région Center Val de Loire in France and the designation of scientific plans for the following years. All of the above projects are carried out in international cooperation between the team of Professor Agnieszka Rak (UJ) and the team of Professor Joelle Dupont (INRAE) and concern the regulation of the hormonal reproductive function of females.

Indeed, there is a global problem of infertility in the world today; obesity and environmental pollution, the so-called endocrine disruptors, contribute significantly to the increase in fertility problems in humans and other animal species. The increase in the incidence of infertility and social costs are the starting point for a global discussion on the search for optimal system solutions increasing the chances of improving the effectiveness of the prevention and treatment of infertility. The topic of our projects concerns the molecular mechanisms controlling female reproductive function by determining the influence of adipokines -adipose tissue hormones and environmental factors on the functioning of the hypothalamic – pituitary – ovary axis cells in an animals and human model. During the seminar, we plan to discuss the results of research on the projects that will be presented by young scientists: students, doctoral students and Post-Doc carrying out their diploma theses as part of joint projects. Additionally, we are planning a lecture by one experienced leader in the field of female reproduction. Finally, we will discuss joint action plans for the next years.
