Science across borders. The future of scientific diplomacy
Science is one of the most important areas of international cooperation today. By bringing together researchers, institutions and societies from different countries, it contributes to the advancement of knowledge, fosters innovation, and creates opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of experience. In the face of rapid global change, its significance extends far beyond academia, influencing relations between states as well. Scientific research is becoming an important instrument of international dialogue, while scientific cooperation helps build trust, develop partnerships and jointly address contemporary challenges.
Today, scientific relations are about far more than the exchange of knowledge. They are increasingly seen as an important element of a country’s international standing and capacity to exert influence on the global stage. In this context, science diplomacy is gaining particular importance as a bridge between research, policymaking and international cooperation.
The conference will explore the role of science diplomacy in today’s world and the significance of science as a platform for dialogue, cooperation and relationship-building between nations. The event will bring together representatives of the Polish and French scientific communities, research institutions and experts to reflect on the future of science diplomacy and the place of science in shaping international cooperation.
Discussions will focus on science as a forum for dialogue and a tool of international engagement, as well as on the role of science diplomacy in addressing global challenges. Participants will examine the use of science as an element of soft power, the importance of international collaboration networks, and practical approaches to strengthening connections between the scientific community and policymakers. Particular attention will be devoted to how science and diplomacy can be more effectively connected and how scientific cooperation can be leveraged to build lasting international partnerships.
The aim of the conference is to create a space for the exchange of experiences and the development of cooperation among researchers, public institutions and experts, while highlighting the importance of science as a universal language of dialogue and mutual understanding in a rapidly changing world.
