On March 27, 2025, part of the conference “Emotions and Gestures in the Mirror” took place at the Polish Academy of Sciences Scientific Center in Paris.

Attendees had the opportunity to listen to seven presentations covering a variety of topics, all focused on the emotions experienced by both art audiences and creators. The presentations were delivered by:

Stéphane Toussaint, Director of Research at CNRS, who explored Le Chanteur florentin, a sculpture by Paul Dubois, and its references in art.
Magdalena Kulig, curator at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw, who discussed the role of Jane Wilhelmina Stirling in Chopin’s life and the dedication she left on the composer’s piano, which helped identify the instrument after the war.
• Prof. Renata Suchowiejko, from the Institute of Musicology at Jagiellonian University, who introduced the topic of memorabilia and their significance in preserving memory.
Stéphane Paccoud, curator at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lyon, whose presentation focused on the works of Fleury-Richard, a French painter of the Lyon School.
Stéphanie Deschamp-Tan, curator at the Louvre, who spoke about the funeral mask and portrait of Ferdinand Philippe, Duke of Orléans.
Gunilla Lapointe, mediator at the Louvre-Lens Museum, who discussed alternative ways to engage museum audiences through movement and dance.
• Dr. Małgorzata Zawadzka, curator at the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, who presented Summer in Nohant, a play by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz.

The evening concluded with a performance titled Cabaret Musical: Paris-Varsovie, featuring singer Ewunia (Ewa Adamusińska-Vouland) and pianist Yves Dupuis. The repertoire included well-known Polish and French songs, translated into both languages. You can discover the work of these artists, who captivated the audience, HERE.
