On 21 September, an interdisciplinary conference was held at the Scientific Station of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris. This event was the result of a collaboration between the Polish Institute of World Art Studies, the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Scientific Station in Paris, Saprat (Savoirs et pratiques du Moyen Âge à l’époque contemporaine), and École pratique des hautes études – PSL in Paris. The conference was entitled ‘From Collections to Museums: Collecting and Cultural Mediation in the Time of Feliks Jasieński’. Its aim was to promote the publication of the proceedings of a symposium in both French and English, which had the same title and was held at the Scientific Station of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Paris in 2021. The volume also served as a basis for an intellectual debate on the idea of collecting. Heartfelt thanks were extended to Ms. Agnieszka Kulczewska-Wójcik and Ms. Ewa Bobrowska, who effectively introduced the conference participants to the substantive issues and moderated the entire event. The conference serves not only as a historical note on collecting but also as a new perspective on the activities of ‘cultural agents’, thereby opening up new research horizons in this field.
