Quality Improvement in Healthcare

April 9 -10 2018

The goal of the meeting is to bring together health professionals such as system managers, clinicians, academics, public health experts, and healthcare technology specialists – with or without prior quality management experience – in order to initiate an open dialog regarding development of a new understanding of quality of care and its measurable indicators. A specific emphasis will be put on their role in designing innovative policies regarding health and nutrition, which will be instrumental in overall improvement of healthcare systems performance and population health outcomes on a national and regional level.

During two morning Sessions, a distinguished panel of international experts, representing several leading research institutions as well as national and international organizations in Europe and the United States, will give us an overall picture of various facets of the quality improvement fundamentals and implementation strategies that have been developed and pursued over the last several decades in all sectors of healthcare systems at the national, regional and global levels.  

Session Three in the afternoon has been specifically designed to create an opportunity for the representatives of several medical schools and governmental organizations in Poland to present their institutions’ structure, function, goals and challenges in the context of their current research and managerial priorities.   

Finally, Session Four will provide an interactive forum for exploring the feasibility of introducing and/or expanding the quality improvement agenda within the organizations represented at the meeting, including specific initiatives such as e.g. development of new educational programs in quality improvement at graduate and postgraduate level within the medical school core curriculum, as well as within continuing professional education systems.

It is envisioned that the panel of international experts will be able to offer valuable advice regarding dissemination of quality improvement-related knowledge and skills, first within the institutions represented at this meeting, and later within the entire system of which they are a part. 

We intend to publish a report containing the proceedings of this event in a peer-reviewed journal and invite you all to submit a preferred version of your presentation at your convenience. We hope that this meeting will mark a beginning of lasting professional friendships and fruitful collaborations among the participants, organizers, and sponsors of this event.
